What’s one experience from your internship that really stuck with you?
Honestly, it was the internship as a whole. I was involved on both the operations side and in project management, which ended up being what helped me transition into my current role. I was able to learn more than just project management I always spent the first half of my day out on the jobsite seeing firsthand how we use engineering solutions to solve real problems.

What skills did you build that you still use today?
Communication. In my role now, I’m constantly coordinating between teams and keeping projects aligned on schedule and I started developing that skill during my internship. I was also able to learn more about construction by seeing things like safety regulations and wet utility structures firsthand. Watching a team build something and being able to visualize how it all comes together was more impactful learning about it in a classroom.

Why did you choose to come back to B&S full-time?
When I was interning, I got to see the company culture and how everyone is treated with equal respect regardless of where you are in your career. I also had more hands-on experience here than I could’ve gotten at other companies. Even as an intern, I was out in the field using a GPS rover to check stakeouts while also spending time in the office getting exposure to things like financials. If you want to learn something new or take something on, there’s always an opportunity to do that at B&S. You’re never held back because of your rank.
